The Friends of the Robbins Library are delighted to welcome Susan Stamps, a representative from the Arlington Tree Committee. The Tree Committee was established in 2010 by Arlington’s Select Board to promote the protection, planting and care of trees in Arlington.
The Committee’s objectives are:
- Expand the town tree canopy by increasing tree planting
- Promote community awareness of trees and their benefits
- Provide a website about trees and Town services related to trees
- Provide information about tree selection, planting, and care
- Maintain a list of recommended trees
- Raise funds to support the Tree Committee’s mission
- Support the use and enhancement of the town’s street tree inventory view map
Susan Stamps, an attorney and Town Meeting member, was an early member of the Arlington Tree Committee and co-authored Arlington’s Tree Protection and Preservation Bylaw. She will talk about the history of the Tree Committee, its relationship with our Tree Warden, and, in this time of climate change, will address current projects, challenges, and future plans of the Tree Committee. Susan welcomes your questions, so this is your chance to learn about all things relating to Arlington’s trees.
This live event will take place on Wednesday, September 28 at 7 pm in the Community Room (lower level) of the Robbins Library. It is free and open to all.
