From Karen: Let me introduce myself. I am a child of immigrant parents from China. My father came to the USA to provide a better life for my mom and sisters back in Taiwan. He managed to open 4 Chinese restaurants within 47 years with no formal education or training. While my parents were working long hours, I oversaw feeding my siblings and other housemates. My older sister was in charge of cooking BUT she can’t boil water or cook the meat to appropriate temperature. I was getting sick of being hungry, so I took over the cooking duty at the age of 6.
